FEATURES OF THE ELMED ELECTROSURGICAL SYSTEMS FOR MAJOR SURGERY:
SMART-O-MATIC, automatic compensation circuit. Over 20 years ago, ELMED developed an automatic compensation system built into the units which provide the desired output for all electrodes or tissue conditions. It is known as the SMART-O-MATIC, developed as an automatic range control over ten steps. Once the range is set according to the intended procedure and speed, no adjustment on the unit is necessary. It is based on transformer coupling technology which is extremely reliable. The SMART-O-MATIC operates in both the monopolar and bipolar modes.
Three generators, all individually adjustable:
|
GENERATOR I |
Non-modulated current for smooth cutting and contact coagulation. Blend I mode provides cutting with limited hemostasis, but more pronounced than in the "Pure" mode. Blend II mode delivers a dampened waveform current for more dramatic hemostasis, also known as "soft" coagulation. |
|
GENERATOR II |
Delivers modulated, high voltage current for spray coagulation and fulguration. This new solid state design permits massive, fast coagulation for urological, cardiovascular and thoracic procedures. |
|
GENERATOR III |
A totally independent bipolar generator, which may be utilized at the same time as the monopolar generators, if desired. ELMED continues to lead the way in bipolar generator technology, offering a handswitching mode BI-CO-MATIC, or operation by conventional footswitch. |
True digital readout for output power in models equipped with a digital monitor, which accurately indicates the power which will be delivered, calibrated to a 300 Ohm load. Even changes in output power, when selecting the blended modes for Generator I, are registered on this advanced digital indicator.
Safety circuit. Automatic sensing device in the patient return circuit deactivates the monopolar generator if the patient plate circuit is defective. When only the bipolar generator is used, the patient plate does not have to be utilized.
Return electrode monitor (REM). When two-section patient return electrodes are desirable with the REM circuit, select model No. 5757 and No. 5759.
The ELMED ESU 400, major electrosurgical generator is also suitable in combination with the ELMED THERMOFLUX Argon Gas System List No. 5500, request details.
The ELMED ESU 400 series units, is specifically designed to eliminate potential hazards due to the improper connection of the active electrode accessories by making the monopolar and bipolar connections totally incompatible. On competitive electrosurgical units, the 4 mm banana plug connections are common between the monopolar and bipolar outputs and thus, it is possible to connect a bipolar forceps to the monopolar output, which could lead to an extremely dangerous situation. Yet, many manufacturers of electrosurgical equipment, who claim optimal safety features, ignore or overlook this.
