ENHANCE SAFETY DURING ELECTROSURGICAL ENDOSCOPIC PROCEDURES with
ELMED RF-ALERT
During laparoscopic procedures, insulation failure and capacitive coupling are in many cases the cause of unintended electrosurgical burns within the peritoneal cavity, but even more so is utilizing the wrong waveform.
The primary function of the ELMED RF-ALERT is to detect dangerous "leakage current" (capacitive discharge), usually a result of selecting a "coagulation waveform", from the active electrode shaft and then direct it away from the patient. This condition is caused by the use of high voltage current.
The ELMED RF-ALERT was designed to protect against "leakage current" (capacitive discharge), sometimes due to insulation failure of the active electrode, but more often due to the use of the wrong waveform, which causes capacitive coupling. This is the result of selecting "coagulation current", instead of the proper "cutting current".
NOTE: ELMED does not recommend the use of electrosurgical generators that operate at over 3,000 Volts for this system or any laparoscopic procedure, as these generators produce high leakage resulting in burns within the peritoneal cavity and excessive trauma at the surgical site.

| List No. 5510 | ELMED RF-ALERT, Stray Voltage Monitor, connects to a conductive trocar sleeve or specially designed double insulated endoscopic electrodes, includes standard accessories |
THE ELMED RF-ALERT FEATURES:
Compact design, utilizing State-Of-The-Art circuitry.
L.E.D. Bar-graph monitor, displaying "leakage current" (capacitive discharge).
Visual and audible warning and alarm indicators.
Can be used in conjunction with ELMED and other electrosurgical generators as a safeguard during endoscopic procedures.
The ELMED RF-ALERT may be placed on top of your existing electrosurgical unit, connecting cable are installed between the monitor and trocar sleeve, or specially designed double insulated endoscopic electrodes, and patient return respectively.
