ELMED has been a leader in electrotherapy technology for many years. In fact, we introduced the first ultrasound therapy equipment to the profession over 30 years ago.
Based on this tradition and our reputation in the profession, we continue to provide top quality, durable equipment without misleading gimmeckery or compromise in performance.
Therapeutic ultrasound, with and without the combination of stimulation currents, is an established form of therapy. Ultrasonic energy produces a combination of thermal and mechanical effects in the body tissue. When the thermic effect is reduced or eliminated through the application of interrupted or "pulsed" ultrasound, the effect is described as "micro" or "cellular massage".

THE BENEFITS OF ULTRASOUND THERAPY
Based on its physical characteristics, elevating the local tissue temperature and increasing the capillary circulation, the proper use of ultrasound therapy should result in:
* Local hyperemia, removing unwanted chemical wastes and providing needed nutrients
* Reduction of pain, particularly pain associated with arthritis, neuritis, bursitis and epicondylitis
* Softening of tissue
* Pleasant heating sensation
ULTRASOUND COMBINED WITH STIMULATION CURRENT
Stimulation current therapy is widely used for the management of pain associated with various forms of arthritis and rheumatism, as well as during the post acute state of soft tissue injuries. It is also used for conventional muscle stimulation.
While electrostimulation
effects the sensory and motor nerves, along with ionic movement within the
tissue, ultrasonic therapy activates the cell membrane through "micro
cellular massage".
Combining these two modalities, therapeutic ultrasound and stimulation current into one modular system, table top or mobile, represents an ideal solution for therapy, convenience and service. Each modality may be used individually or in combination with each other.
